ONE BROKEN SPRINKLER HEAD CAN KILL HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF PLANTS
PLEASE A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR ALL THE DEADS PLANTS KILLED IN ACTION.
How is this possible? If you think about it for a minute it makes sense, because all of the water that was going to possibly 25 other sprinkler heads is now pouring out of one head in one place, this place gets flooded and all the other heads dry up. Then all those plants dry up and die
YOUR FIRST QUESTION MIGHT BE HOW WAS THE DARN SPRINKLER BROKEN IN THE FIRST PLACE?
THAT IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION.
Here are some of the possibilities that we have encountered
- General contractors doing work run their equipment over the landscape and break
the sprinkler heads. - Tree roots grow and expand causing breaks in the lines and heads.
- Regular wear and tear and disintegration of seals and bodies.
- Cars and trucks can accidentally cut corners causing the heads to break.
- Rodents, squirrels, gophers chew through the lines.
- Vandalism by disgruntled employees and homeless, the homeless will turn off
valves, break heads, and camp out. - Stolen backflows for copper recycle, as well as wiring. When backflows are shut off
by other vendors and we are not notified causes things to die.
DID YOU KNOW?
The new drip systems going in are more subject to getting clogged and being chewed by rodents. The emitter holes are smaller, and the pipe is more easily exposed and easily destroyed by 3-4 years of sunlight.
Now I hate to be the bearer of such negative information, but I think you deserve an explanation of what the ups and downs are when it comes to sprinkler repair. We appreciate your business and your patience! As we weed through your landscapes and do our best to keep things looking green, clean & beautiful!
ON A LIGHTER NOTE
Irrigation parts are only designed to last between 8-9 years and after this time the whole system is subject to being worn out. I’m sure we all want to know will this winter 2024-2025 be wet? Neutral? Or dry?
According to farmers Almanac it should be a little wetter. According to NOAA they
recently announced its prediction of a weak La Nina which should bring drier weather
to Southern California for 2024-2025.
So, we have 2 different agencies predicting opposite results for southern CA. So, my
prediction is for average precipitation and average weather conditions. More
predictions will come when more Data is received.
